My (defunct) HO Scale Model Railroad Empire
I was having too much fun with this...
Our latest garden scale additions have been to our new old house - a two bedroom, one bath bungalow in Mount Dora. It was built circa 1925, at least, we're pretty sure it was. The records say it was built in 1925, but there was this fire, a fire that destroyed all of the records previous to 1925. But I digress...
A Bit Of History...
My HO Scale Empire spanned two rooms of our old house in Wekiva Springs. It had tunnels through the walls, bridges spanning the doorway into my office, dual mainlines, two large switchyards, block control for two cabs, remote control switches, just needed to add scenery. "Well, what happened to all of it?" you may ask. That's a bit of long and involved story...
It started with Ann wanting to "downsize". <insert longwinded description of Ann not wanting to clean such a large house when it's not even 1800 ft2> The tl;dr version, we moved to Mount Dora and there was no room for any of it. I had to remove one of the switchyards for the coal mine and the mine itself to have room to store everything in the corner room. The other switch yard and pretty much the bilevel twice around the wall layout in the office had to come down and be compressed into the corner room as well. So now $10K of everything just sits there in piles because my wife didn't want to clean a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house. So glad we downsized. NOT!
